Fraser Goodrich

Fraser is currently the youngest member of the OFC squad, but this hasn’t stopped him from being on of the most valued players on the team and one of the first names on the team sheet every week. When Fraser came to Oatlands last year, he had been highly recommended by Phil Barr as a very promising young talent. Fraser was thrown into the deep end from the beginning and started the very first game of last season as a centre back. After playing the first half of the season as a centre back it was after the return from injury of Tim Furnival that we have really seen the best of Fraser as he was moved out to right back. As a right back, Fraser is a superb player in a defensive capacity and can win the ball in the air, on the ground and seems to love a physical confrontation. In addition to his defensive capabilities, playing at right back has given him the freedom to get forward when we are in possession and can often be seen overlapping down the wings and giving us options out wide. Fraser’s aerial presence is a real threat as well and as such he’s already bagged a few goals from set plays over the past couple of seasons

Tell us a bit about yourself Fraser...

I’m Fraser; I’m half Somali, quarter English and quarter Scottish. I was born in the capital of Thailand but I have lived in England most of my life. I live in Hampton Court now and I am doing my A levels at Esher college.

Tell us one fascinating fact that everyone should know?

I have been on a hijacked plane and was about 6 seconds away from not being here today

Tell us about your journey to joining OFC...

I was talking to Phil Barr, Pete and Steve about coming to a training last year. Also my brother recommended it and I think I signed up after my first training

Who is your footballing idol and why?

Probably Gianfranco Zola or Marcel Desailly, they're both players that I have looked up to since I was young - I used to be a Chelsea Fan.

If you were a super hero, what would be your name and what would be your powers?

Frazzlemeister, I would be able to walk up walls and be able to evolve into anything and anybody.

Being an expert at defending, what's the most difficult team you have had to defend against?

Definitely Brockham in the County Cup last year. We lost 7-1

Greatest moment in an OFC shirt?

Definitely scoring in the semi final of the cup with my back! All I remember is Phil shouting get in there Fraz before the free kick was taken and next thing I knew it was in the back of the net and we were on the way to the final.

When your not defending for OFC, where would we be most likely to find you?

Proabably getting pissed at some random house party.

Which professional football player do you compare yourself to and why?

Hmmmmmm, I've never thought about that, I would have to say Claude Makelele, because he is the best defensive midfielder of my time.

You're not the first member of the Goodrich family to play for OFC - Who is the better player; you or Hamish?

I would love to say me but we play completely different positions so its hard to compare. I will leave it for you guys to decide.

What advice would you give to any new lads attending the OFC Christmas party for the first time?

You’re going to have an amazing time! Even though I didn’t remember anything after 10.30

Anything else you would like to add?

Nothing that I can think of at the moment..
