Geoff Smith |
Geoff may be young in years, but already in his short spell between the posts at OFC he has shown a mature head, blended superbly in to the OFC setup and has quickly earned the trust and respect of the back line and the team. Again despite being only 17, he already has many of the attributes that make him an outstanding keeper and apart from his superb grasp of the basics, his main strengths would have to be his speed off the line and ability to boss his penalty area. Being fairly new to the team we are still finding out about Geoff, but he's christened this year's donkey T-shirt, manages to fit in games of Rugby before turning up on a Saturday afternoon and come December 16 th 2006, he will be entering the lions den when OFC descend upon the Blue Hawaii for the Xmas Party. |

I'm 17, live in Hampton , did well in my GCSE's last year, I have a brother and a sister and I live on a houseboat. A houseboat is not actually a boat, but more like a house that's floating and before you ask, I can't drive it down the river, and no, it won't sink. There's not much else to say errrrr, nope can't think of anything else. |

Why did you become a keeper, rather than perhaps seeking the glory of being a striker or midfield maestro? |
When I was really young my brother and I used to play football, he would stick me in goal and take potshots at me and I would get really muddy. From then I liked being a keeper. The truth is that all the glory is in fact keeping, but no one knows it yet. |

What's your best position when not in goal? |
I would say striker, but I don't really know. |

All keepers have their embarrassing moments, any howlers you want to tell us about? |
I've had a few, one when I was younger was a volley from the half way line, I ran out to claim the ball only to watch the ball bounce over my head and past my despairing hand and into the goal. Another was a simple catch on my line, straight at me, and it bounced off my hands and into the net. |

If you were a super hero, what would be your name and what would be your powers? |
My name would be ‘Invincibilian' and I would be invincible, as in nothing at all could kill me and I'd have no weaknesses. I'd also be able to eventually kill or defeat every other superhero because they wouldn't be able to kill me. |

When you're not bailing out the OFC back line, what are your other hobbies and interests? |
Errr, the usual, going out with my mates and playing more footy. I've recently got into table tennis although I'm not very good, so it's probably only that and relaxing, I don't really do much other than that. |

Tell us one fascinating fact that everyone should know? |
There are not much fascinating facts that I know about personally, but my Mum is from the Caribbean . |

Who is your footballing idol and why? |
Hmmmmmm, I've never thought about that, I would suppose I have a few, the usual ones, like Bobby Moore, (a great defender) and Gordon Banks (The Pele save), others would probably be Kevin Keegan and the Liverpool team of the 80's, most recently It would have to be David Seaman - one of the best keepers ever. |

At Claremont are there any nicknames for Phil that the team needs to know about? |
| |
Not really, he's the head of year eleven, so any abuse comes from that year. Though I'm sure some of the younger years have nicknames for him! |
