Tim Furnival |
| |
|
Tim Furnival is a true legend at the club and is undoubtedly OFC's enforcer. He has been with the club since day one and can normally be found at the heart of the defence hunting down strikers with the intention of causing the sort of destruction you would find in a trailer park after a tornado. His lightning pace, ability in the air and aggressive approach make him a striker's nightmare. However, despite the fact that Furno's first touch is usually a tackle or well chosen defensive header, he does very occasionally crop up in the goals scored column of the statistics page as you will find out. Tim has always been the sort of player who plays with his heart on his chest (or should that be sleeve??) and always gives 100%. Away from the theatre of conflict, he's currently the area manager for Massive Pub, the company who run the Queens in Weybridge, however despite the job title he's usually found on the spending side of the bar. As you will see he's from up north and despite the fact that when he talks it's more of a noise than an audible sentence, we've managed to extract the following information from him. |

Grew up on a farm about 20 miles from Stoke on Trent … yes that's right… I'm a northerner as its north of the Watford Gap! Got a couple of older brothers so was always the spoilt little shit till about the age of 18 when I went off to Manchester University (they accept anyone…my A - Level results a D, E & U… class!). Had a ball, then went off the US , never seen so many drugs & guns in my life before. Came back a model citizen, my brother recently commented that on my return I was no longer a wanker, think there must have been a compliment somewhere. Left Uni in 2000, worked as an agency chef for a while, After Uni I moved to the Big Smoke and after a few months I ended up as guvnor of the infamous Queens Head, met a tosser called Jarv, who invited me to play footy… the rest is history! |

What's the key to running a successful pub? |
| |
|
Get a group of footy boys in…. offer them a free round of B52's and you're away. Great service, beer & food… then charge what you like, just got to keep the dickheads out! It's always good to keep the ‘coke fiends out too'… you have to be extra careful NYE, although I usually got me doormen to sling em out! |

Greatest moment in an OFC shirt? |
| |
|
Either my first goal, a ‘well taken shin lob' from the edge of 18 yard box or the late tackle against an arse of a midfield player, last game of the 03/04 season against Surrey Athletic! The lasting image of him trying to attack me whilst crawling on his arms almost as if his legs were blown off is something I'll never forget… glad some of you were there to witness it!!! |

Who is your football idol and why? |
| |
|
With the recent death of Best, many clips of his football talents have been shown and the guy is obviously a legend. Along with the likes of Sir Stanley Mathews and of course Bobby Moore… he led England to World Cup glory!!
Must admit, I'm not a fan of Owen… except for the 5 – 1 crushing of Germany …
“Michael Owen's magic, he wears a magic hat…
…and when he plays for England he is a nice chap…
…he scores them with his left foot his scores them with his right...
…and when we play the Germans he scores all fooking night!”
Had many a great holiday singing that tune on the way home!
Shearer also demands respect… you just wouldn't fuck with him! |
