Ted Smith is a versatile defensive midfielder / centre back who was very much a regular starter for OFC last year. Sadly some fairly serious injuries have limiited Ted to just a couple of starts this year but it looks like he should be back in time to bolster the squad for the business end of season 2008/9. On the pitch Ted is real ball winner, be it on the ground or in the air. In the centre of midfield his work rate is outstanding and gives us an edge in those closely fought midfield battles. As centre back, pace and composure on the ball make him a superb option and with a return to fitness, the battle for places at the back looks likely to heat up.
